    Previously read soft-cover book in good condition. Cover has some chips in the finish. Shows signs of slight shelf wear along the edges and corners. There is quite a bit of creasing along the length of the spine. One can see some yellowed glue near the binding along the inside covers. The photograph at the very front of the book has foxing on the top right corner and along the bottom edge. Pages and inside covers have faded in color, but are not quite yellowed. The pages' outer edges have also faded. The side edges have an orange smudge in the center, towards the top. There are other, more faint smudges along the rest of the outer edges. There is a slight split in the binding between pages 126 and 127. Pages are otherwise intact and in good condition.

The spine is peeling at the top. The inside covers and the front end page are discolored; the back end page is missing. The inside pages have yellowed and so have their outer edges. The side has deckle edging. The binding is not pristine but is still intact. The top outer page edges have a "DISCARD" stamp in black. There is a library stamp on the inside front cover. The dedication page has a stamp on top and writing on the inner and bottom edge in pencil and pen respectively. The "Note" page has writing near the text on the inner edge. The inside back cover has a library card holder.

Pages have faded in color, but are not quite yellowed. There outer edges of the pages have some beige speckles, though the side edges are mostly clean. The binding is slightly loose between pages 10 and 11. The pages are otherwise intact and in good condition.

Pages have yellowed, especially on the edges. The top page edges have noticeably faded from their original black color. Pages are otherwise tightly bound and in good condition.

The back cover has a dark rectangular patch on its right hand side, with a couple of small stains above it. The spine has faded into a yellow color. There is shelf wear on the cover's edges and corners and on the top and bottom corners of the spine. The inside covers have yellowed slightly, with darker discoloration along their borders, especially near the binding. The pages have yellowed slightly. Some pages, such as pages 130 and 131, may have a beige spot or two on their margins. The top outer page edges have faded from their red color and have a number of light colored spots. The sides have deckle edging. The binding is still in good condition. The back inside cover has a book label on its bottom left corner.

There is a small amount of pen marks throughout the book from when a previous user was making notes.

The inside pages have also yellowed, especially on their outer edges. The top outer edges have a couple of tiny silver dots in the center and the side edges have a tiny stain on the bottom half. The second title page has a tiny tear towards the inner corner of the top edge. Page 289 has a black smudge on its outer edge. The front inside cover has some writing on the bottom edge. The very front page has a name in pen at the top right corner. There are a few marks and stains on a few pages throughout the book.

The edges and corners of the cover have some minor shelf wear. The inside covers and free end papers have yellowed slightly and have some slight foxing on their top edges; otherwise, they have retained their pattern quite well. The inside pages have yellowed moderately. The outer paged edges have a bit of foxing. The top outer edges have a black discoloration. Some of the pages have a tiny crease on their top corner. The inside covers and free end papers have yellowed and have small beige speckles sparsely distributed throughout. The back inside cover and free end paper have light beige, thumb shaped spots near the center of their top portions. The inside pages have yellowed and are rather thin. The half and full title pages both have a few creases along there length. Some of the proceeding pages have wrinkles in their top inner corners. The outer page edges have yellowed as well; they have tiny dots and smudges throughout. Some pages may have dog ears and faint stains on one or more of their corners or margins. The binding is broken in with age, but still intact. The front inside cover has writing in pencil on the top. The table of contents has pencil check marks next to many of its titles.

The top outer page edges have faded significantly from their original dark color. The sides of the pages appear to have slight deckle edging. The binding is intact but one can tell it is a bit stiff with age when flipping through the pages. There is a note by Christopher Morley inserted into the front of the book. The note has creases on its bottom right corners.

The spine has some yellowed and is a slightly different color from the rest of the cover. The inside covers and free end papers have yellowed and they have darker discoloration near the binding. Once can notice some beige dots on the inside covers under the jacket flaps. The inside pages have yellowed slightly. The top outer edges have faded from their original red color. The top edges also show a gap between pages 312 and 313, though there is no split in the binding or gaps on any of the other edges. Page 312 has a faint crease down the middle. Some pages have creases or nicks on their edge(s). The binding is still in good condition. The table of contents has check marks in pencil next to some titles. One title has a pencil line through it.

The inside covers and free end papers have yellowed with slightly darker discoloration along the binding. The inside pages have also yellowed. The top outer page edges have faded moderately from their original black color. The bottom outer page edges have a stain near the binding. A couple of pages have a small crease on their top corner. Between the second and third front end pages, there are rectangle patches on the center of their edges near the binding; the following two pages have fainter beige rectangles in the same place. The binding is still in decent condition. There is a small name sticker on the top right corner of the front inside cover. The front free end paper has initials and a price on the top right edge. The text has some underlining and notes in ink throughout.

The inside covers have yellowed slightly and are brighter in color near their binding. The back inside cover has had small chunks of its paper's top layer peeled off near its top right corner. The front inside cover also has a peel on its top right corner, but this peel is much smaller. The pages have yellowed moderately. The top outer page edges have faded from their original blue color. The binding is still fairly tight. The back free end paper has a large tear on its inner bottom corner and some of the preceding pages have smaller tears in this same area; these tears are the reason for the book's "poor condition" assessment. There is righting in blue and then purple ink on the top edge of the front free end paper. A couple of the very front pages have a paper clip imprint on the center of their top edge.
